Services for Dr. Horace Benton Gray Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Riverside United Methodist Church in Macon, Georgia, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, north gate.
Gray, 93, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000.
Horace Gray was born on July 10, 1907 in Martinsville, Clinton County, Ohio, to Walter and Rose Medary Gray.
He was a teacher in Volusia County school and in Tavares, Fla., was principal at Eau Gallie High School and superintendent of Brevard County schools.
He was awarded a Ph.D. at Florida State University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi.
He taught at Florida State College for Women, was professor emeritus at Wesleyan College, where he was coordinator of secondary education, and taught at Mercer University.
Survivors include his children, Mary Rose Barnes of Smyrna, Dr. Horace Benton Gray Jr. of Houston, Texas, Walter Ezell Gray of Dallas, Texas, and John Curtis Gray of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Harris Ezell Gray.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Hart's Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dr. Horace Gray Scholarship Fund, Wesleyan College, 4760 Forsyth Road, Macon 31210.
